According to the dictionary:
core - /kôr/ - (noun) - the part of something that is central to the existence or character of something or someone.
Cancer patients/survivors are the very “core” of our Local Cancer Community in more ways than one. Of course, SCCCF is dedicated to improving the health, well-being and quality of life for those in our community who have been diagnosed with cancer.
Many who have been touched by cancer demonstrate their support of our Local Cancer Community in a variety of ways. There are those who show their support by participating in many of our activities while helping others and offering kindesses along the way. There are those who extend that support by volunteering their time, efforts, and talents in countless ways. And there are those that extend their support further yet by involving themselves in fundraising efforts and/or providing personal financial support. These are the elite amongst a dedicated core of local cancer patients and survivors! You know who you are… and I thank you!!!
I reviewed current year-to-date donations to SCCCF recently and recognized names of about thirty cancer patients/survivors who regularly attend many of our activities. These “core” members also donated a total of more than $5,0000 to SCCCF so far this year which doesn’t account for in-kind donations or funds raised at events they were involved in)!
Be assured, ST&BF is a FREE program of healthy and active living opportunities for area cancer patients/survivors! Donating to SCCCF is neither a requirement or consideration of participation! The reason I share this observation is simply because it demonstrates how valuable many cancer patients/survivors (and co-survivors) in our Local Cancer Community consider involvement to be!
Thank you for your participation… your kindnesses… your volunteerism… your fundraising… and your financial support!!!
