I’m feeling rather nostalgic these days! It started as I was preparing a talk for our January TLC Survivorship Session about SCCCF’s Survive, Thrive & Be FIT program (which evolved into a story of why I am so passionate about exercise and activity for cancer patients & survivors). That story included the beginnings of my personal athletic experience (I ran my first track race in 1976), my cancer experience (I was diagnosed in 1992), an allogeneic bone marrow transplant (1998), starting this work (Dr. Matthews hired me in 2000) and ends with a summary of our current ST&BF activities.
This month our ST&BF Indoor Row Group celebrated the ten-year anniversary of our first rowing session! In February our ST&BF Gentle Yoga for Cancer Survivors will celebrate the 15-year anniversary of of our first yoga session and our ST&BF Energizing Flex & Flow (our newest activity) will celebrate it’s one-year anniversary! I invite you to work out with us and celebrate these milestones!
NOTE: For anyone interested, I am including a link to the fore-mentioned talk (which was recorded for some of our regulars who weren’t able to attend due to the cold temperatures). I have also included time-indexed topics for your convenience.
