First Annual WANDER-thon!

The inaugural “WANDER-thon” at the Christopher Farm & Gardens benefiting the Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund took place on Friday & Saturday, August 19th & 20th! It was a "WANDER-ful" opportunity to support SCCCF while enjoying the extraordinary peace, tranquility, and beauty of the Christopher Farm & Gardens.

The Bunnies received so much love.

It’s a joy to see children appreciating nature. Their excitement is just contagious!

One of my favorite places at CF&G

It is so peaceful and quiet to listen to the waterfall and birds. This is where I chose to complete my 5-minutes of silence. Although I must admit it was more like 15 minutes.

Peppers in the vegetable garden.

Salsa anyone?

Pretty in pink!

After the rain overnight we went for an early morning walk. This flower was in the garden next to the canning kitchen. The petals were still wet from rain and made for a perfect picture.

The WANDER-thon Flame! Special Thanks to Lenny Bogenschutz (pictured above center with his daughter Jeanna on the right and son-in-law Josh on the left) for being the "Keeper of the Wander-thon Flame" which was lit during the Opening Ceremony and continued burning throughout the event and extinguished during the Closing Ceremony)!

A Piece of Art in the Making!  One of many activities was this group "paint-by-number" project.  Small groups of cancer survivors and co-survivors took to complete the piece...

The Finished Work of Art! Join us at a TLC Survivorship Session on Tuesday, September 20th for the unveiling of this incredible piece of art!!!

A Rubber Ducky Scavenger Hunt!  Erika of the CF&G set up a fun "Rubber Ducky Scavenger Hunt" that consisted of rubber duckies placed throughout the Gardens, each with a word from a quote.  The challenge was to find all of the duckies and unscramble the quote: "In every walk with nature one  receives far more than he seeks." - John Muir  Congrats to Brenna, Emma, John, Leah, Linda, Mike, Sue, Zander... and a few others who submitted an answer but forgot to sign it (contact me if you think you are one of them).

A Place of Unlimited Peaceful Possibilities!  There are so many peaceful locations, such as the Asian Tea House, where participants could relax and reflect and enjoy the WANDER-ful day and the WANDER-ful Christopher Farm & Gardens!

Nature Center Visit! Several "WANDER-thon Wanderers" were fortunate enough to view the "WANDER-ful" CF&G Nature Center!

Fireside Activities! As the first day came to a close, many gathered around the "WANDER-thon Flame" to share a few stories of cancer survivorship and just plain old life!

Luminarias! Special thanks to Barb Bogenschutz for providing "In Honor of... " and "In Memory of..." Luminaries!  We celebrate those who still walk amongst us and remember those whose journey in this world has ended!

To the Morning! We greeted the new day with noisemakers... as every sunrise is a sunrise to celebrate!

Gentle Yoga to Begin the Day! What a beautiful spot to start another day!

A Beautiful Day at a Beautiful Place! No description is necessary!

The "WANDER-thon Flame" Continues to Burn! Despite a less-than-ideal forecast (which was WRONG), the "WANDER-thon Flame" was a great place to gather!

A Ride on the Dairyland Express! We enjoyed both a night-time ride on Friday and a daytime ride on Saturday, thanks to Engineer Erika!

All Aboard: Passengers awaiting a ride on the Dairyland Express!

Much Appreciation to ALL!  Thank you to EVERYON who sponsored, donated to, participated in, or in any way made the First Annual WANDER-thon the WANDER-ful event that it was!  Watch for a list of supporters to be listed here!
