Congrats to the 2022 ST&BF Active Survivors of Sheboygan Team

Following January’s TLC Survivorship Session we recognized area cancer survivors, a hand full of co-survivors (who participated as guests of a participating survivor), and one caregiver who qualified for the Active Survivors of Sheboygan (A.S.S.) Team and/or were “Finishers” of the winter, spring, summer, or fall CUMULATIVE Walk/Run Marathon or 100-mile Bike Ride!

A.S.S. Team Members are encouraged to exercise 30-minutes or more at least two days a week and log their daily exercise throughout the year to “earn a spot” on the team! Those who exercise five days a week earn the status of a ST&BF “Olympian”!

Congrats to these survivor-athletes (bold names indicate ST&BF “Olympians”:

Linda Ansay (3), Cindy Becker (10), Deb Borucki (3), Kathy Burch (9), Bob Hartig (6), Leah Heusterberg (9), Dan Kunda (10), Beverly Leonhard (7), Candy Meyer (10), Chris Meyer (3), Dione Micoliczyk (10), Sharon Pentek (4), Tim Renzelmann (10), Cindy Walvoord (1), Rae-Ellen Weber (3), Sue Zalewski (5)!

CHALLENGE: Earn your spot on the 2023 A.S.S. Team!

New in 2023: A.S.S.i.s.t. – “Active Survivors of Sheboygan’s incredible support team”!

I have received requests from co-survivor guests of A.S.S. team members and several staff here at the clinic to participate in the A.S.S. (Active Survivors of Sheboygan) program. I had explained how, in my mind, the name itself dictates that this program be exclusively for cancer patients/survivors. When I shared this with those who attended the 2022 Survivor-Athlete Recognition, one of the attending co-survivors suggested a creative way (and the perfect acronym) for this: A.S.S.i.s.t. (Active Survivors of Sheboygan’s incredible support team)!

So, this year we are welcoming guest co-survivors of A.S.S. team members as well as any medical caregivers in our Local Cancer Community to join in! Although A.S.S. remains exclusively for cancer patients and survivors, others may now help “A.S.S.i.s.t.”! 😊

See attached or contact Tim for details.

Congrats to 2022 ST&BF CUMULATIVE Event Finishers!

When the pandemic hit, and we were not able to come together as often as we would have liked, we started the ST&BF “CUMULATIVE” Marathon Walk/Run and 100-mile Bike Ride for cancer patients/survivors as well as guests of participating cancer patients/survivors and medical caregivers in the Local Cancer Community.

The concept is simple. With each new season, participants have the opportunity to complete a Marathon (26.2 miles) running or walking or a Century (100 miles) bike ride... not all at once, but cumulatively!

Here are our ST&BF CUMULATIVE Finishers from 2022 (bolded names represent those who completed a CUMULATIVE event in each of the four seasons – winter, spring, summer, and fall)! The number in parenthesis are the total lifetime CUMULATIVE finishes.

Cancer Patients/Survivors:

Kathy Burch (6), Bob Hartig (6), Sharon Pentek (3), Tim Renzelmann (8), Cindy Walvoord (4), Rae-Ellen Weber (9), Sue Zalewski (7).

Co-Survivors (guests of participating survivors):

Ruth Hartig (4), Mike King (1), Bernard Pentek (3).

Medical Caregivers (of our Local Cancer Community):

Mary Schueller (7).

New this year, we added a Metric Century (100 kilometers) CUMULATIVE row (in part to recognize our ST&BF Indoor Row Group members).
