Story of Survivorship: Barb Bogenschutz Shares Her Story Fillled with Challenging Circumstances and Cherished Experiences!
Barb Bogenschutz took the time to share her story with us during our May TLC VIRTUAL Survivorship Session which also marked the TWENTY-YEAR Anniversary of these TLC Survivorship Sessions and the TLC Supportive Community!
Barb began her presentation stating, “When I started working on this (presentation) I found that my life was pretty newsworthy.” I am quite certain that all of us who heard her story that night would agree, as will you after you hear her story here (click on image or link):
The following day I wrote in an e-mail to those who had participated that read, “I am hopeful her fine example may inspire others to share their "newsworthy" stories! As I see it... sharing your story is not a selfish or egotistical act. It can, in fact, be quite the opposite! It is a way to entertain... to teach... and to inspire!!! I learned some things about Barb... about myself... and about humanity as I listened to Barb's story!
As barb shared her many varied life experiences it caused me (and I suspect others) to reflect on their own life experiences, both awesome and awful and anywhere in between. Listening to another person’s life story that is often made up of strangers in unfamiliar surroundings and circumstances almost always reminds me of my own story with more familiar characters and circumstances. Different stories often share common themes. It is not our differences but our commonalities that make us human. And we are far more alike than we are different. As Barb shared stories of joy... I felt joy. As Barb shared stories of gratitude... I felt gratitude. As Barb shared stories of love... I felt love.
So, thank you Barb! And thank you to the next brave and thoughtful soul who selflessly steps up to share their own “newsworthy” story so that others can experience joy and gratitude and love!
